Reflective Writing Assignment

An assignment or aspect of the course that challenged me the most was the argumentative assignment for my prior work on noise pollution. I struggled with finding an argument that I can write about that would go against my essay on the negative impacts of noise pollution. It was through hours of article skimming to find any material that would “support” noise pollution. I came across one line at the bottom of an article that spoke on complaints people had on noise pollution projects where traffic was reduced but in the end it caused more noise pollution because faster cars were louder. Although I didn’t find an argumentative article I was able to use that one sentence and struggled my way into making it a full argument to do the assignment. Through that assignment I was able to learn how to find information I needed for other articles by specifying searches and looking at examples from real projects so I can find critiques from other sides. I can say I felt really accomplished after writing multiple different essays on the same topic because of how they were all formatted differently and helped me take away something different each time. Practicing my writing in this course provided me with skills of structuring my essays based on what is being asked. Whether it’s a research paper, a synthesis essay, an argumentative essay, a narrative essay, or a personal essay I was able to learn the differences between them all and how to write them properly. Compared to my way of writing before this course I can say the only structure I knew about writing was the basic “introduction -> body -> conclusion” but now I know more about how to structure what i’m writing about. For example, dividing my topics and arguments in separate paragraphs to make it clearer to the reader on what i’m trying to talk about, Or how to make a good introduction with a clear thesis to guide me through my writing. Overall this course taught me alot and i took away many important tips and skills that I will use for future papers.
